Forms can be picked up at 2356 SPH Building, Room 3302 by the individual seeking care. For more information about the referral process, please call Shawnta Jackson at x57577 or x58859, or sjack1@umd.edu.
The School of Public Health is partnering with the Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy (MOM) & Health Equity Festival and will host a Free ADULT Dental Clinic on campus (Comcast Center) on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6. For those in need of care, this may be an opportunity to seek dental services. Volunteers are also being recruited to work at this event.
This program is a collaborative effort by the dental and health care community, MOM, Catholic Charities of Washington and the University of Maryland Center for Health Equity to provide free emergency dental care to the poor and underserved. The group seeks to enhance the overall health of this population by creating a caring environment for health screening, education and referral services.
First Come First Served
This event is open to the community and people will also be coming from out of state. They are hoping to serve 1,000 people and they are looking for 800 volunteers.
For those wishing to participate, note that it is first come first served. The clinic spans two days that include a Saturday. Work release time will not be offered; for those wishing to seek services during their work shift, leave should be requested and approved as one would do for a normal medical/dental appointment.
Interested in volunteering? The Mid-MD MOM is run entirely by volunteers. Over 800 volunteers both clinical and non-clinical will be needed. Please consider supporting this much needed service. Volunteers are needed the day before for set-up and the days of the event. Opportunities include set-up, break-down, registration, patient escorts, translation, IT support and more!
