MONTGOMERY COUNTY AFRICAN AFFAIRS ADVISORY GROUP MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS CAMPAIGN |
Mental
Health Awareness is one of the top priorities on the agenda for the Montgomery County African Affairs
Advisory Group (AAAG). Although Mental Health is a National focus, the
African diaspora communities still experiences lack of awareness due to stigma,
cultural barriers and beliefs. Moreover, Diaspora communities experience an
overall lack of exposure and limited access to information on mental health
as well as county resources that are readily available to them. Our goal is
to align with the Healthy People 2020 goal of improving mental health through
prevention and increased access to appropriate quality mental health
services.
